High-Tech Methods with a Personal Touch
Please browse through the following detailed descriptions of the services we provide. We hope this information helps you become comfortable with the kinds of procedures we offer and allows you to better understand your own dental health.
We are committed to providing the most comprehensive services with the highest level of professionalism and patient care. Our team strives to make every appointment a positive experience for our patients.
Comprehensive preventive care includes far more than cleaning, hygiene instruction and check-ups. During your visit, we perform a thorough assessment of all aspects of your dental health. We check for decay and evaluate your gums for gingivitis and periodontitis. Aided by digital radiography we are able to evaluate your teeth and bones with a minimum amount of exposure to radiation. We also watch for problems with your bite, including warning signs of clenching, grinding, or TMJ disorders. We will also screen your lips and the soft tissues of your mouth for oral cancer. Most importantly, Dr. Nelson and his staff spend time one-on-one with each patient, discussing your specific situation and explaining the strategy that will help you obtain the most optimum oral health.
Few diseases are as stealthy and serious as periodontal (gum) disease. It can be relatively painless and asymptomatic at first. Gum inflammation (gingivitis) is an early indicator of a problem. Untreated, this can progress to periodontal disease. This can mean pockets between teeth and gums, loose teeth, bone loss, and eventually tooth loss. Extensive dental work is often necessary to restore oral health. For this reason, we're meticulous in our examinations, looking for even the very earliest signs of periodontal problems. If there are areas of concern, we offer you the latest in in-office therapy techniques, including all types of periodontal disease control, soft tissue grafting, and periodontal aesthetic services using laser technology.
Aging, accidents, undiagnosed gum disease, and daily wear and tear can lead to cracked, broken, discolored, loose, or missing teeth. These problems should be treated by a dentist so that the damage does not continue. We begin our restorative process by gathering as much information as possible about you and your dental health. This is followed by careful consideration of any dental problem prior to the development of an effective, long-term strategy for restoration.
Our approach also includes practicing pro-active, conservative dentistry: catching and repairing problems while they're small and choosing materials and methods designed to conserve as much natural tooth structure as possible. We are able to provide "one visit" single and multiple all porcelain crowns using our advanced CEREC system. No more temporaries, gooey impressions, or multiple visit crowns! We also provide a one day cosmetic makeover, allowing you to leave our office with a new smile of all porcelain restorations in a single visit! We always aim to provide aesthetic, quality care. You should feel comfortable knowing that all our services are geared to provide an attractive, comfortable, and functional result.
We also want you to understand that although we provide comprehensive services, we welcome a team approach to your treatment. We maintain relationships with excellent doctors in every dental specialty. As you read the lists below, you will find that referrals to specialists are some of the valuable services we provide. Our partnership with our dental colleagues is one way we are able to provide superior care for our patients.
Today's technological advances for dentistry are very exciting! We take seriously our responsibility to study new products and evaluate their effectiveness. Our Ultrasonic Cleaner uses water and sonic vibrations to clean teeth. This is used in combination with hand scaling and allows us to complete your cleaning more efficiently and with less scraping. We have baking soda prophy jet cleaning to assist us in removing hard to reach stains on your teeth. We also use a soft tissue laser, when required, to remove diseased and infected tissue that may be present in your gums. If there is a need for a filling, we can now use a hard tissue laser to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible, often negating the need for local anesthesia.
We also use magnification loupes to help us observe, and properly treat even the smallest problems we find in your mouth. By using intraoral cameras we can give you a "real time" look at your teeth and gums so you can observe with us any areas of concern. Our intraoral cameras also have a decay finding feature that allows us to easily and quickly find beginning decay that is not yet visible to the naked eye!
We are able to evaluate your teeth and their supporting structures with digital x-rays, allowing us to instantly diagnose any problems you may have with minimal amount of radiation. We also routinely take 35mm digital pictures to assist you in understanding the nature and scope of your dental problems.
Extractions are sometimes necessary to remove badly damaged teeth. We accomplish some extractions in our office. When the situation is more complex, we can provide you with a referral to an oral surgeon for that part of your treatment. Missing teeth can often be replaced with dental implants, which are placed and restored in our office. We routinely use implants for replacement of single teeth, multiple teeth, and to retain dentures and partials. We also offer wisdom teeth removal suing our hard tissue laser resulting in less pain and discomfort. We also offer oral sedation combined with nitrous oxide for maximum comfort for you and your family.
They know who I am and call me by name. When I'm getting work done, everyone is friendly and personable. They remember things about my family and my life which puts me at ease because dental work stresses me out. Always friendly. Always helpful. I love this office.
